FlashcardX vs EvalSystem

FlashcardX is a study app that turns pasted text or web links into vocabulary flashcards you can review before a test. You drop in a short excerpt from an article, textbook, or URL, and the site generates words to memorize instead of making cards by hand.

The workflow centers on a single generator on the homepage: enter your source material, create a deck, and come back to it later under My Flashcards after signing in. A credits counter on the page shows how many generations you have left.

It is built for students who need quick vocab prep and do not want to spend time formatting cards. The project is open source on GitHub and tied to Talbert Herndon's Mico-Learning Community on Jotted.

EvalSystem lets colleges and universities run course evaluations and student surveys inside their learning management systems. It plugs into Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, and Moodle so students complete evaluations without leaving the LMS. Faculty and administrators get real-time feedback, reporting dashboards, and automated insight summaries to spot trends across courses and departments.

Most course evaluation tools treat LMS integration as an afterthought and still send students to a separate login. EvalSystem keeps the entire survey inside the LMS and claims integrated notifications can push response rates above 95%. It also bundles sentiment scoring, automated summaries, and cohort trend lines in one platform rather than exporting CSV files for analysis elsewhere.

Academic leaders use EvalSystem for accreditation and program review data. Faculty and teaching centers get drill-down reports by course, instructor, or student subgroup. IT and LMS administrators benefit from a two-click install that syncs enrollment data automatically instead of running month-long integration projects.
