Hayai Learn
Hayai Learn is a web app for learning Japanese through video immersion on YouTube and Netflix. You watch content you already enjoy, click words in smart subtitles for context-aware definitions, and build vocabulary from real clips instead of textbook drills.
The platform layers grammar breakdowns, sentence pattern detection, and pop-up dictionary lookups on top of imported or library videos. A Chrome extension lets you pull YouTube videos into your study library, while flashcard drills, listening quizzes, shadowing practice, and AI roleplay scenarios round out speaking and review.
Founder Lawrence Tan built Hayai Learn after years of travel showed him that immersion apps often spread features wide without going deep on comprehension. The product is operated by HayaiLearn, a DBA of Fallen Cloud Studios LLC, and has been in active development for over two years with input from Japanese teachers and UX designers.
