SearchBirds
SearchBirds is a lightweight web search engine fronted by a kiwi mascot called Birdy on searchbirds.com/home. You type a query, hit enter, and the site promises fast results with live suggestions in an ad-free layout. The marketing page highlights privacy, quick suggestions, and a simple interface for people who want a calmer search page than the major engines.
Unlike Google or Bing, SearchBirds does not pitch shopping modules, account tie-ins, or ad slots in its homepage copy. The product leans on a narrow promise: no ads, a privacy-first feature block that says it collects no data, and a single search field with typeahead help. A Kiwi Clicker mini-game on the home page and a phpBB help forum at searchbirds.com/forum read more like a student side project than a funded index at scale.
Students, privacy-minded browsers, and casual researchers who want a free search page without sign-up are the likely fit. During research the root searchbirds.com endpoint showed a maintenance downtime notice, while the /home page and forum stayed reachable. Support email addresses [email protected] and [email protected] are listed on the home page, and the footer credits exIST with Version 1.1.
