WeHanzi
WeHanzi is a mobile app for learning Mandarin through graded comic stories. Instead of textbook drills, you read semi-comic narratives at your level while picking up vocabulary, grammar, and conversational phrases in context.
The app includes 400+ graded lessons aligned with HSK and TOCFL levels, a built-in dictionary, flashcards with spaced repetition, and stroke-order practice. Lessons support simplified and traditional characters, with pinyin, zhuyin, tone markers, sentence translations, and multi-voice audio.
WeHanzi was built by Ben, a full-stack developer, and Gina, a Mandarin teacher, after conventional study methods failed to stick. The iOS app is on the Apple App Store. An Android version is in development.
